Almost no one likes the major UI changes, especially when they happen with an everyday tool. We all remember multiple complaints about Gmail’s new interface back then, and then there was Facebook. Even if the new UI is better than the old one (which is essentially the reason for the change, or at least it should be), the human brain does not appreciate changes. Good or bad, the Zoho CRM‘s new UI has taken its permanent place, and we all have to migrate.
If you or your team are still using Zoho CRM’s old interface, the clock is ticking. On July 15, 2026, Zoho is permanently retiring the old UI. Every user will be moved to the Next Gen UI — and there’s no going back.
Here’s everything you need to know: what’s changing, what you need to do before the deadline, and what’s genuinely better in the new interface.
The Hard Deadline: July 15, 2026
Zoho has already rolled out the Next Gen UI to all CRM users in three phases — starting with small orgs, then expanding to all accounts, including large orgs with 50+ users. Right now, if you switched back to the old interface, you can still use it. That changes on July 15, 2026. After that date:
- The “Switch to old version” option is gone
- All users are permanently on the Next Gen UI
- There is no opt-out, extension, or exception
Zoho has been surfacing in-product banners since May 18 to warn users, with reminder banners running through July 13. If your team dismissed those — this is your heads-up.
What Migrates Automatically (Most Things)
The good news: your data and configuration come over cleanly. You don’t need to manually recreate:
- All records, contacts, deals, and history
- Custom fields and modules
- Workflows and automation rules
- Blueprints and approval processes
- Scheduled actions and macros
- Profiles, roles, and sharing permissions
Think of it like a major software update — your core setup carries forward.
What You Need to Do Manually
This is where teams get caught out. Two things do not migrate automatically:
1. Tab Groups to Teamspaces
If your organization uses Tab Groups to organize CRM modules by department or team, those don’t carry over. You’ll need to recreate them as Teamspaces in the Next Gen UI.
Teamspaces are actually more powerful — they give each department (Sales, Support, Finance, etc.) their own view of CRM with relevant modules, dashboards, and workflows — but you’ll need to set them up manually before (or after) the cutover.
Action: Audit your existing Tab Groups now. Document which modules belong to which group, and plan to recreate them as Teamspaces.
2. UI Preferences
Layout preferences, sidebar settings, themes, and view modes don’t transfer. These are quick to re-set, but worth flagging to your team so they’re not confused on July 15.
What’s Actually Better in the Next Gen UI
We’ve been working in the Next Gen UI with clients for months. Here’s what’s genuinely worth your attention:
Teamspaces
The biggest structural change. Instead of a flat list of modules, your CRM is now organized into departmental workspaces. Sales sees their pipeline. Support sees tickets. Finance sees invoices. Each team works in a focused environment — less noise, faster navigation.
New Views (Grid, Timeline, Chart, Split)
The old list view is still there, but you now have:
- Grid view — spreadsheet-style inline editing across records
- Timeline view — track records across time (great for deals and projects)
- Chart view — visual analytics directly in the module
- Split view — browse records and view details without leaving the list
All support inline editing. This alone saves a significant number of clicks per day.
Interactions Tab
Every record now has a unified Interactions tab that shows all emails, calls, meetings, and notes in a single chronological timeline. No more jumping between activity sub-tabs. For sales reps managing active pipelines, this is a material time-saver.
Dark Mode
Light, Dark, and Auto modes. Small thing — but teams that requested it will appreciate it.
Connected Records & Connected Workflows
Build relationships between records across modules, and trigger automations based on those connections.
How to Switch (Before You’re Switched Automatically)
If you want to make the move on your own terms before July 15:
- Go to your Profile icon (top right) in Zoho CRM
- Click Switch to New Version
- You’re in — you can still revert until July 15 if needed
We recommend making the switch now, spending a week in the new UI, and ironing out any Teamspace setup before the deadline rather than being switched automatically on the day.
Our Recommendation for Zoho CRM Admins
- Switch your own account today — get familiar with the interface before you support your team through it
- Audit your Tab Groups — list them out and plan your Teamspaces
- Communicate the July 15 date to your team — don’t let them be surprised
- Brief your CRM admin on what’s changing so they can handle support questions
- If you’re on a support plan with us — reach out and we can help you set up Teamspaces and walk your team through the new UI
Bottom Line
The Next Gen UI isn’t just a visual refresh — it’s a better-organized, more capable CRM interface. The Tab Group → Teamspace migration is the only real manual step. Everything else is handled automatically.
The deadline is July 15, 2026. That’s less than a month away.
